The working session marks the launch of a series of in-depth discussions aimed at establishing lasting peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is the first step in a strategic dialogue process designed to lay the foundations for national unity, justice, and reconciliation.
At the heart of the discussions were the urgency of inclusive and honest political dialogue among all segments of the country, the search for concrete solutions to the root causes of conflict in the East, and the need to rebuild trust between Congolese communities.
The AFC/M23 coordination praised the personal involvement of Joseph Kabila, whom they view as a key figure in the peacebuilding process. His governance experience and national political stature are seen as crucial assets for opening a new chapter in the DRC’s history.
“The time has come for Congolese people to come together at the same table, to speak frankly, and to envision a future of peace, security, and development,” said a member of the coordination after the meeting.
Joseph Kabila, for his part, reaffirmed his commitment to the country’s stability, stating that peace can only come from sincere dialogue between brothers and sisters of the same nation.
This meeting in Goma is only the beginning of a broader initiative. Further sessions are scheduled with political, community, and civil society actors to reinforce this momentum. The ultimate goal is clear: to end cycles of violence, ensure lasting stability in the eastern regions, and rebuild the Republic on solid and fair foundations.
A strong message has been sent from Goma a call for patriotic unity and a determined commitment to building a peaceful, united, and prosperous DRC.
