After years of enduring injustice, poverty, discrimination, and failed leadership, the people of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have grown weary. The AFC/M23 coalition has now declared that the time for waiting on change is over.

In a speech filled with determination and courage, the coalition’s President, Bertrand Bisiimwa, stated that AFC/M23 is no longer pleading for peace from the Kinshasa government. Instead, the movement has chosen the path of liberating a nation that has been hijacked by a ruling clique.
He said: “We are not requesting solutions from the Kinshasa government. We are beyond the stage of asking. We are now liberators of the oppressed.”
He added that AFC/M23 has no list of demands for the Kinshasa regime, but will address the country’s problems through dialogue with those willing to listen or through force, if necessary.
Bisiimwa’s statement signals that AFC/M23 troops are preparing to march on Kinshasa in a genuine battle to overthrow Félix Tshisekedi’s regime, which they accuse of plunging the country into darkness and the tears of innocent citizens.
As Kinshasa braces for growing pressure from the AFC/M23 coalition, voices calling for change continue to gather strength in the liberated regions. Among those joining the movement is former President Joseph Kabila Kabange, who was received in Goma by coalition leaders as a hero of the people.
Corneille Nangaa, the coalition’s Secretary General, described Kabila’s return as a powerful sign that Goma has become the epicenter of a national revolution.
He said: “Kabila returned to a part of the country that does not suppress politicians, does not sentence people to death, and does not fuel ethnic hatred. Goma is a place of freedom, democracy, and a quest for truth.”
Colonel Willy Ngoma, the military spokesperson for AFC/M23, affirmed that the coalition views Kabila as a people’s soldier, someone who stood by the population while other leaders indulged in luxury, greed, corruption, and repression.
AFC/M23 has never hidden its mission: to liberate the Congolese people who have suffered for decades, and to establish visionary leadership based on justice, unity, and security.
The coalition has already won the hearts of many through tangible efforts in the regions it controls Rutshuru, Masisi, and Goma, where it has restored peace, provided basic services, and ended the rampant killings that once plagued those areas.
In his recent message, Nangaa declared: “Goma is where the journey toward a new Congo began. We stood up to fight a clique that captured power in Kinshasa, using death, corruption, and discrimination to trample on people’s rights.”
AFC/M23 emphasized that Kinshasa is the next destination, as its citizens too deserve freedom, self-determination, and the right to declare that the era of servitude and deception is over.
While some media outlets continue efforts to suppress the truth, the people of Congo are starting to hear the voice of change and open their hearts to the idea that their country can once again be peaceful, fair, and united.
As the international community continues to drag its feet on resolving Congo’s crisis, AFC/M23 has vowed not to wait for salvation from others. Instead, it will persist in its mission to liberate the nation and its people.
“Goma is not the end it is the beginning. Kinshasa is next in line for liberation,” is a message that several leaders of the coalition have repeatedly emphasized.
