However, beyond this condemnation, the reality on the ground remains alarming. Civilians in the Uvira and Minembwe regions continue to fall victim to a campaign of terror carried out by individuals described as terrorists and jihadists. This critical situation underscores the urgency of a stronger response from the international community and the Congolese authorities.

For years, the people of eastern Congo have been exposed to recurring violence perpetrated by various armed groups. These attacks, which are intensifying in Bukavu, Uvira, and Minembwe, reflect a growing climate of insecurity. Civilians, the primary victims of these atrocities, live under the constant threat of assaults, looting, and targeted executions.

While official condemnations are necessary, they must be followed by concrete actions. It is crucial to implement enhanced protection measures and ensure that those responsible for these atrocities are brought to justice. The fight against impunity remains a central issue in guaranteeing security and stability in the region.

The situation in eastern DRC requires an urgent and decisive response. As long as armed groups continue to operate with impunity, civilians will remain vulnerable to relentless attacks.

The time for symbolic condemnations must give way to decisive actions to put an end to the terror that plagues this war-torn region.
