The Mayor of Goma, Katembo Ndalieni Julien, has issued an official directive mandating all military personnel, members of the Wazalendo group, the Congolese National Police, and the FDLR (Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda) to report to Stade de l’Unité (Unity Stadium), This measure aims to regulate military presence and enhance security within the city and its surrounding areas.

Mayor Ndalieni has also addressed the local population, instructing residents who may be harboring military personnel from the FARDC (Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo) or Wazalendo in their homes to report them to the authorities. Additionally, individuals in possession of weapons or military equipment must surrender them to the nearest local official, such as the Neighborhood Chief, Cell Chief, Avenue Chief, or the Office of the Communes.
The mayor has issued a stern warning: any individual found in possession of unauthorized military equipment or sheltering armed forces after the deadline will be considered an enemy and treated accordingly. This strict measure seeks to eliminate illegal armed elements within the city and prevent further instability.
This directive underscores the government’s commitment to restoring order in Goma, as security concerns continue to affect North Kivu province. The authorities are prepared to take decisive action to reassert control over armed elements operating in the region.
