The People of Goma Speak: A New Dawn of Reconciliation and Development

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our people for the unwavering trust and overwhelming support they have shown for our organization and our struggle for security, peace, and justice for all. The massive response to our call is a clear demonstration of the people’s resolve and a powerful rejection of the misinformation and propaganda spread by the Kinshasa regime.

By turning out in large numbers, the people of Goma have once again exposed and refuted the deceptive narrative promoted by the authorities in Kinshasa. This regime has desperately attempted to mislead the public by portraying as civilian casualties those members of its armed forces who were neutralized during the liberation of Goma. However, the truth is now evident: the people know and recognize what truly transpired, and they refuse to be manipulated by lies and distortions.

Furthermore, the citizens of Goma have dismantled another falsehood: the claim that they are resisting our movement. This baseless narrative, which the regime tirelessly repeats to the inhabitants of Kinshasa, is nothing more than an illusion fabricated to maintain control over an uninformed population. The government’s decision to block access to social media and silence independent media outlets only proves its desperation to conceal the truth. But despite these oppressive measures, the truth cannot be suppressed. The reality on the ground is undeniable the people have spoken loud and clear.

The events unfolding in Goma mark the dawn of a new chapter one of reconciliation, peaceful coexistence, and progress. The people have made their aspirations known:

No more hate speech and xenophobia. We reject the politics of division that have been used to sow discord and fuel unnecessary conflicts among communities.

  • No more glorification of extremist and genocidal ideologies. We refuse to be trapped in a cycle of violence fueled by outdated and destructive beliefs.
  • No more shameful acts of barbarity. We distance ourselves from any form of inhumane practices that degrade our dignity as a people.
  • No more armed groups terrorizing innocent civilians. The era of the so-called Wazalendo militias, known for their crimes and destruction, is over.

With these affirmations, the people of Goma are embracing a future built on solidarity, mutual respect, and development. The city’s true spirit—one of hospitality, unity, and resilience is being restored.

The people of Goma have made it clear: they are ready to rebuild, reclaim their dignity, and restore the greatness of their city. No longer will Goma be a battleground for destructive forces. No longer will its people be pawns in political games designed to keep them in perpetual suffering.

We have returned home, and we will never abandon our city again.

We will work tirelessly to bring back those who have been forced into exile, ensuring that every refugee finds their way back home. Together, we will heal our wounds, mend our divisions, and rebuild our province from the ground up.

This is a moment of renewal. A moment for unity. A moment for progress. The future of Goma is in our hands, and together, we will build a city of peace, stability, and prosperity for generations to come.
