The incident was discovered on Tuesday morning when a choir group arrived at the church and were stunned to find that the piano they use had been stolen. This prompted them to immediately alert the church leadership.
Eliud Githaka, the church’s deputy leader, expressed deep concern and sorrow over the incident, describing it as unprecedented and disturbing for the congregation.
Residents living near the church suspect that the night guard may have been asleep during the break-in, as he reportedly saw or heard nothing related to the event.
One local resident told the media: “It’s clear the guard must have fallen asleep because he hasn’t told us anything about what happened.”
Police arrived at the scene on Monday night and announced that investigations had begun to identify those responsible and uncover the motive behind the robbery.
Church leaders have since declared their intention to improve security by forming an internal security team instead of relying on a single night guard.
Githaka stated: “We’ve realized that relying on just one person for security isn’t enough — we need to work toward more sustainable solutions.”
